It is interesting to note the extent to which our lifestyle choices can have a holistic impact on our well-being. In addition to physical health, the effects on mental well-being are also clearly tangible. A healthy lifestyle, such as adequate sleep, nutrition, and exercise, contributes to managing stress, relieving tiredness and improving mood, for example. Social contacts and relationships boost self-esteem, support belief in one's own potential, and create a sense of security. Lack of involvement can lead to loneliness, stress, and reduced work capacity. The purpose of this thesis was to explore the impact of our wellbeing choices - exercise, inclusive experiences and nutrition - on our mental health. It also explored the potential of multi-professional and multi-disciplinary teams to support mental health work. The thesis was conducted as a literature review. The research question is "What are the effects of physical activity, inclusion and nutrition on mental well-being?" and an additional question "How could multi-professional/multi-disciplinary teams be utilised in mental health work?" The thesis was carried out in cooperation with the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District, HUH Psychiatry. The material was collected by using predefined search criteria (language, year of publication and availability) and by combining search terms. The search databases used were PubMed, Finna and Science Direct, from which various scientific articles and studies were selected. In the end, seven articles were selected for the thesis. During the search, it was found that despite the limitations, the search engines returned many irrelevant results; nonetheless, suitable articles were found to support the research questions. The results showed that studies on the relationship between lifestyle and mental health are still relatively scarce, but the available evidence supports the link between these issues. Nutrition, participation and physical activity were found to be associated with a reduced risk of depression. There were also findings on associations with the treatment of anxiety disorders, as well as with overall mental health....

Varhaiskasvattajien kokemuksia positiivisesta pedagogiikasta

Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää varhaiskasvatuksessa työskentelevien kasvattajien omia kokemuksia positiivisen pedagogiikan käytön vaikutuksista varhaiskasvatuksessa lapsiin ja työilmapiiriinkin. Opinnäytetyön aihe tuli Illenpihan päiväkodilta, joka on yksi Vantaan kaupungin varhaiskasvatusyksiköistä. Illenpihan päiväkodissa on hyödynnetty positiivista pedagogiikkaa jo vuosien ajan. Opinnäytetyön tutkimuksen toteuttamista varten opinnäytetyön tekijälle annettiin vapaat kädet.
Opinnäytetyön teoreettinen viitekehys muodostui positiivisen pedagogiikan käsitteen märittelystä sekä varhaiskasvatuksen kysymyksistä.
Tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisin menetelmin verkkokyselynä e-lomakkeella, joka sisälsi viisi avointa kysymystä. Verkkokysely julkaistiin neljässä yksityisessä varhaiskasvattajien ja sosionomien Facebook-ryhmässä ja vastauksia kyselyyn tuli yhteensä 80. Verkkokyselystä saatuja vastauksia analysoitiin sekä laadullisin että määrällisin menetelmin.
Vastauksien perusteella moni koki että positiivisen pedagogiikan käytöllä on ollut positiivisia vaikutuksia oman varhaiskasvatusryhmän lapsiin sekä koko ryhmän dynamiikkaan. Myös työyhteisön katsottiin hyötyneen positiivisesta pedagogiikasta. Ongelmana positiivisen pedagogiikan toteutumiselle vastauksissa kerrottiin olevan sitoutumattomuus ja perehtymisen puute, eli kaikki työyhteisön jäsenet eivät kaikissa tapauksissa olleet täysin ymmärtäneet positiivisen pedagogiikan ideaa.
Tutkimustulosten perusteella voidaan todeta, että positiiviset kokemukset ja positiivinen vuorovaikutus sekä itsetunnon vahvistaminen lisäävät lasten hyvinvointia, motivoituneisuutta oppimiseen, vähentäen haitallista käyttäytymistä niin lapsiryhmän sisällä kuin yksittäisen lapsenkin kohdalla. Lisäksi positiivinen pedagogiikka vaikutti positiivisesti myös aikuisten väliseen kommunikointiin parantaen näin myös yleistä työilmapiiriä ja lisäten työssä viihtyvyyttä....

The purpose of the thesis was to chart how the employees felt about well-being at work in a personnel-leasing company and which factors affect their well-being at work. The thesis was carried out in cooperation with a personnel-leasing operating in southern Finland. The aim of the company was to provide information on the well-being of employees. The employees’ perception of well-being at work helps the employee leasing company to develop employee well-being. Research questions were, how the employees felt about well-being at work in the employee leasing company and which factors affect their well-being at work. The thesis was carried out using quantitative and qualitative research methods and the material was collected using a structured online survey based on a theoretical framework, as well as a thematic interview. The online survey included background questions and 12 claims related to work well-being at work. 16 employees of the company replied to the questionnaire. The web questionnaire replies were tabulated, and the mean values of the replies were calculated. The theme interview was conducted as a group interview through a remote connection with four employees. There were four interview questions. The analysis was carried out with inductive content analysis. The employees who participated in the theme interview felt that their well-being at work was good in the company, but there was more deviation among those who responded to the online survey in relation to well-being at work. In the thematic interview, employees emphasized organizational factors, influence, and professional competence. Based on the online survey and thematic interview, the employees felt that the employee leasing company would allow flexible and meaningful work, as well as a comfortable working environment. As a development proposal, the employees wished for access to training opportunities. As a follow-up study, a functional study could be carried out on how to develop well-being at work and how to influence well-being at work.
